The title is OMAMORI. This word in Japanese means an amulet that brings good fortune.
My basic idea is that jewelry is a container in which people’s wishes are enclosed. Why do I see jewelry as a container? This thought comes from my long-standing interest in the boundary between jewelry and object.
Is something already a ring simply because it has an opening for the finger? Or a pendant because it hangs from the neck? Does the mere fact that gold or gemstones are used make something into jewelry? I have come to the conclusion that it depends on whether the object holds within it a desire of the wearer or not. Of course, this demand—that a piece of jewelry should contain a personal wish—exists in each of us. Some people want to use it to demonstrate their social status or power outwardly. Others, however, want to preserve their emotions and wishes within it, in order to always carry them close. In this sense, jewelry transcends outward beauty, design, and material value. Jewelry encompasses the human desire of the wearer for spiritual support.

Thus, jewelry is not a passive artwork made solely for viewers. Here, the viewer can themselves place their wish into the jewelry. In doing so, jewelry gains an immediate relationship with the person who wears it. The viewer can realize this concretely by taking things into their own hands. And this direct experience with jewelry awakens the question: What does the human need to adorn oneself truly mean?

タイトルはOMAMORIです。この言葉は、魔除／幸運／加護など日本語のお守りを意味します。
私の考えるジュエリーとは「人々の欲望が閉じ込められた容器である」ということです。なぜジュエリーを容器と見なすのか。この考えは、ジュエリーとジュエリーでは無いモノの境界に対する私の以前からの関心から来ています。
指が入るくらいの開口部があれば、それを指輪だと思いますか？それとも首からぶら下がっていればペンダントに見えますか？貴金属や宝石を使用すればジュエリーになりますか？私は、人体や衣服に関わる物体が、着用者の願望や欲求や感情の一部を内包しているかどうかに依存する、という結論に達しました。もちろん、多くの人たちが、ジュエリーには個人的な思想や欲望が含まれているべきだという主張を持っています。一部の人は、それを使って自分の社会的地位や外の世界への力を周囲に示したいと考え、また他の人は他者との強い繋がりや愛情などをその中に留めておきたいと思っています。このような点で、ジュエリーは、着用者への精神的なサポーターとして身体の一部となり、小さいながらも底の見えない大容量の容器なのです。
ですから、ジュエリーは鑑賞者との距離（物理的、精神的）がある一般的な芸術作品ではありません。ここでは、鑑賞者は自分の願いをこのジュエリーに入れることができます。これは空っぽだった物体に、それを身に着ける着用者との親密的な相互関係を与えます。着用者は「まだジュエリーではないもの」から「完成したジュエリー」へ、作家と一緒に制作プロセスを共有、体感出来るのです。また、言い換えれば作家一人ではジュエリーを完成させることは出来ないのかもしれません。着用者の存在があってこそ、初めてジュエリー作品が完成すると考えています。 そして、このジュエリーとの直接的な体験は、着用者に疑問を投げかけます。「人間はなぜ昔も今も自らを装飾するのだろうか？」と。
【OMAMORI作品完成へのプロセス】
１：鑑賞者がジュエリーを欲した時、鑑賞者は全ての板の中から1枚を選択します。
２：鑑賞者はジュエリーとして身に着けたい“何か”を決めて準備します。
３：私が指定された板を折り曲げて箱状にし、身に着けたい“何か”をその中に収納して封印します。 中身は私と所有者（着用者）しかわからない秘密で、再び開けることは出来ません。
※または、身に着けたい“何か”が見つかるまで、板のままで保管可能です。
